THE LIGHTING FOR A

BRIGHTER TOMORROW ACT

IS NOT SO BRIGHT!

ACT NOW!

HELP US CLOSE THE LOOPHOLES ...

Greetings!

[Spread the Word!]

We need the most effective joint Senate - House energy bill possible to put before the President. You can help us now by taking two minutes to make a phone call. Phone calls are very effective! Call your Senator on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and ask him or her to close the loop holes in Senate bill 2017, The Energy Efficient Lighting for a Brighter Tomorrow Act. Plug the loopholes that would confuse consumers and would allow low-efficiency products to be sold in place of higher efficiency products.

Thank you for supporting Earth Day Network in our efforts to fight for more energy efficient lighting standards which will put us on a faster track to a green economy and a healthier environment.

Thank you,

- EDN staff

[Tell Us what you did!]

As a nation, we have a small window of opportunity before the end of the current Congressional session to take some bold steps toward energy efficiency, a greener economy and environment, and ultimately
toward reducing our dependence on foreign oil.

Are you with us? We hope so because we really need your help.

Earth Day Network has been pushing Congress to phase out old inefficient light bulbs and replace them with newer ones that burn just as bright, save tons of energy, and billions of dollars for you and other consumers.

The proposed light bulb standard in Senate bill 2017, The Energy Efficient Lighting for a Brighter Tomorrow Act, has the potential to save an enormous amount of energy by setting minimum light bulb standards which take effect in two stages -- a 25% improvement in efficiency starting
in 2012 and at least a 65% improvement in 2020.

THE GOOD NEWS ? This could ultimately save you and other consumers 13 billion dollars a year on your electric
bills, not to mention roughly the same amount of power as

produced by 40 large power plants.

THE BAD NEWS ? Loopholes in the bill may prevent these savings from happening! In the current version, any manufacturer can get around the new light bulb standard just by so much as changing the shape of their light bulbs.
