Earth Day Network to Present at Middle Eastern Earth Day Events, in Jordan

April 19, 2006 (Washington, DC) Earth Day Network’s Middle Eastern partner Arab Women’s Organization (AWO) will hold a series of workshops in honor of Earth Day at Al Balqa Applied University in Salt, Jordan on April 29th. EDN’s Dima Halawani, the Palestinian Field Coodinator for Earth Day Network, will be attending the events.

Earth Day Network (EDN) and AWO will use this opportunity to reach a population of educated and rising engineers, hydrologists, and scientists through a series of on-campus workshops designed to better inform students of the challenges facing Jordan as well as potential solutions. EDN and AWO will use a combination of academic and industry speakers to educate students on issues ranging from urban planning and water efficiency, to environmental health hazards caused by industry.

Earth Day Network and AWO have celebrated past Earth Days with similar workshops to help people implement drip irrigation and other water saving techniques.
