Start: Sat, 04/19/2008 - 00:00 End: Sat, 04/19/2008 - 00:00

RBIS International School in Shanghai organize Earth Day on April 19 in the Shanghai ZOO. The day attracts about 8,000 people, mostly Chinese, for stage performances, games, activities, endangered animal zoo tours, 2nd hand flea market and food.
They intend to educate local Chinese in the Hong Qiao districtabout the problems of plastic bags and try to encourage the Expats to purchase the more expensive but more environmentally friendly lightbulbs and shower heads.

They will also hold a Lights Out Campaign for our school where parents will turn off their lights for 1 hour on Earth Day.

The School just completed a fundraising campaign to buy 1,000 trees to plant in Inner Mongolia for the Roots and Shoots Program.
After Earth Day they will also be making changes to make the school more environmentally friendly by changing to organic pesticides, changing our light bulbs, changing communication to email.
