PROFILE

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

Located only 10 miles west of New York City, Clifton, New Jersey has 78,000 residents and many tree-lined streets. In fact, the National Arbor Day Foundation has recognized Clifton as a Tree City USA for the past 10 years for their reforestation efforts. Additionally, in a report by the Sustainable Communities class at Iowa State University, Clifton was featured as a model city for sustainable living and programs.

There are 17 schools in the district serving 11,000 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Fortunately, Alfred Dubois of the Department of Public Works is heavily involved in promoting environmental education to all schools in the district.
