Percy Julian High School's Partners:

Blacks in Green - BIG (TM) is a Community Education & Trade Association that works to bring communities of color into the green economy. Naomi Davis, Founder of BIG, inspired many students at the Earth Fair and kindly donated Green Festival tickets to students at the school with an interest to attend.

Bloom High School - This high school in Chicago Heights has a very active science and environmental club. Ten Bloom students participated at Percy Julian’s Earth Fair by teaching their peers about environmental issues, holding raffles for CFL bulbs, and giving tours on their biodiesel bus.

Chicago Public Schools - Participated at the “Green Makeover” and gave two-ton dumpsters to the school to begin recycling.

Chicago Police - Held a booth at the “Earth Fair” to talk about non-violence and safety.

EPA Region 5 - Held a booth at the “Earth Fair.”

Friends of the Parks - FOTP is dedicated to preserving Chicago Parks and Forest Preserves. FOTP has worked with students to clean up nearby parks and trails an they held a booth at the “Earth Fair.”

Greg Christian Catering - This company, known as Chicago's Conscious Caterer™, uses local and organic ingredients, and provided the meals for the “Green Makeover” participants.

Green Corps - This landscaping and job training organization is a program of the City of Chicago Department of Environment (DOE). This organization helped create the outdoor classroom and native plant garden outside the school. Thirty students helped plant the garden and all science classes were able to observe the team.

GreenGrid - Owned by Weston Solutions, Inc. and ABC Supply Company, Inc., this company provided a demo green roof for the Earth Fair. A green roof for the school is pending approval. Green roofs insulate buildings, save occupants money, improve water drainage, and provide aesthetically pleasing space for people, birds, and insects.

Goodness Greenness - This organic food supplier of Chicago donated organic apples and oranges for the Earth Fair, causing a stir among students who had never tried the sweeter taste of organic fruit!

Fresh Picks - This company does home deliveries of local and organic produce around Chicago. Fresh Picks had a booth at the Earth Fair and educated students about organic food.

National Gardening Association - Provided birdfeeders and supplies for the outdoor classroom and native plant garden.

Organic Schools Project - OSP is working to bring healthier and organic lunches to schools in Chicago. They have changed menus at three schools and have incorporated school gardening into student’s classroom. OSP participated in Percy Julian’s Earth Fair, teaching students about the long distances.

Spartan Chemical - With a cleaning product line that is green seal certified to be healthier and more environmentally friendly; the Green Solutions line is a perfect alternative to conventional school cleaning products. Spartan Chemical kindly donated products, trained custodial staff how to use them, and held a booth at the Earth Fair to educate students about green cleaning.

Solar Service Inc. - Solar Service is the leading solar supplier in the Midwest for solar water and solar heating systems. Solar Service held a booth at the Earth Fair letting students have a hands-on experience with a solar panel.
