OUTDOOR CLASSROOM AND SCHOOL GARDEN |
|
| |
Students at Bridgewater-Raritan middle school have decided to design, help build and create support for an outdoor classroom. This space would enable teachers to take their students outside and would allow students to use the space to promote environmental issues. The students hope to landscape with native vegetation and will kick-off the space during the school’s Earth Day festivities.
Students will also incorporate a school garden, which would grow the Native American food triad: corn, beans, and squash. To see the student’s designs for the outdoor classroom and garden, see below.

ENERGY AND WASTE REDUCTION |
|
| |
Beyond the outdoor classroom and environmental curricula in the classroom, students at Bridgewater-Raritan middle school will be devising ways to reduce the waste in the school through composting, using reusable lunch bags, and through an energy audit, where they will assess how to reduce energy consumption at the school. |
