Climate
Our climate makes life possible on planet Earth. A sudden rise or drop in global temperature can shift all life on Earth out of balance. The burning of fossil fuels, such as oil, coal, and natural gas, leads to excessive carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that in turn traps heat and results in a global increase in temperature. This phenomenon is known as global climate change, and if steps are not taken to alter its onslaught, life on planet Earth will become fundamentally altered. By educating young people about global climate change, we can significantly lessen many of its detrimental effects. These lesson plans and resources seek to instill knowledge of the causes and effects of climate change, as well as a sense of civic duty, giving students the information and tools necessary to embrace a sustainable future.
